Turn your feng shui wealth corner into a money magnet! (4 easy tips!)

Did you know your home has a wealth corner?  Your feng shui money corner isn’t as mystifying as it sounds, and there are lots of things you can do right away to help bring more money and abundance into your life.

how to use your feng shui wealth corner

Where is your feng shui money corner?

In western feng shui, the wealth area is in the far left corner of your home, when you’re standing in the front door of the home, looking inward.  Stand in your front doorway, as if you are entering your home.  From this position, the feng shui wealth corner is the farthest back left corner.

You find your money corner by using the feng shui bagua and overlaying it on your house.

Here is a picture of the bagua:

finding your money corner

When you use the bagua, you overlay it on your home with the bottom edge aligning with the front of your house.  This means your entryway will usually be in either your knowledge/spirituality area, your career area, or your travel/helpful people area.

Once you have an idea of how to lay out the bagua, your home is then divided into the 9 areas.  Even if your home is a rectangle or other shape that’s not square, you still divide it into the 9 areas equally.  The wealth corner is the back left 3rd of your home.

he bagua layout of your home doesn’t have to be “perfect” in order to work.  It’s best to know the general bagua areas and not stress about dividing your home into perfect squares. Just work with what you have!

Click here for a more detailed look at how to use the bagua.

How does the feng shui wealth area work?

According to feng shui, your home should represent a balance of all of the areas of your life.  What your life is like outside of your home is usually reflected inside your home and vice-versa.

A healthy, happy home is unique to each person who lives there, and no two homes will be feng shui’d the same way. The result, however, is a home where energy flows freely and attracts love, luck, and abundance in every area of your life.

In feng shui, the abundance area (and every other area of the bagua) has it’s own set of “rules” that govern it.  These are the feng shui tips and cures that you can apply to the area in order to attract more good Chi (energy) into that area of your life.

How do you work with your money corner?

The first time you look at your money area, it’s important to look at it objectively.  You might find that things in this area accurately reflect what is going on with your finances.

  • Is it cluttered?
  • Is it dirty/dusty?
  • Is it a room that isn’t used often?
  • Is it drafty?
  • Is it a room that you usually just pass through?
  • Is it dark?
  • Do you just happen to keep your financial documents (or bills) there?
  • Is there a toilet or sink there?
  • Is that area “missing?”
  • Are there broken items?
  • Are there unfinished projects?

A lot of times these types of issues will show up as chaos in your finances.  If the area is cluttered, it can show up as confusion or not enough money (the clutter blocks the money!)

If it’s a room that isn’t used often, you might find that money is inconsistent in your life.

If it’s a room that people just pass through, money could just slip through your account as quickly as it enters.

If you keep your bills there, you might find more and more bills showing up.

If there’s a toilet there, you could find money draining or flushing away.

If the area is “missing,” you might find that money doesn’t show up when you think it will.

If you do find one (or several) of these things are in your wealth area – don’t worry! It’s actually an easy fix.

But it does show you right away how accurate the bagua can be at showing you the areas in your life where the energy isn’t flowing correctly!

What is the first thing you should do to your money area?

Definitely declutter and clean it! Move all of the items out of that area that don’t belong, and clean it until it sparkles.

Also fix anything broken, unfinished, or leaking. You want to start with a fresh, clean space that is ready to receive more abundance!

When I first started learning feng shui, the money area was the first thing that I worked on because it felt like it would make the biggest difference in my life.

My wealth corner is in my dining room, but there is also a built-in desk in that area.  When I first looked at this area, I realized I was keeping old financial documents, bills, and old tax returns there!  Those things were reflecting money stories that were no longer true for me, so I cleaned those out right away.

I also went through the rest of the cabinets and decluttered and organized them.  I gave the whole area a good scrubbing — even the window!

Windows represent clarity in your life, so it’s important to clean them if you are actively applying feng shui to an area.  Mirrors too!  If your finances seem murky and you have a mirror in this area, make sure you clean it!

Okay, you’ve decluttered and cleaned your wealth corner . . . now what?!

Here are four things you can do to activate your feng shui wealth corner:

One: Light a candle every day for the next nine days.  Nine is a lucky feng shui number, and lighting a candle in your wealth area will activate the fire element, which will start stirring up the wealth and abundance energy!  It’s even better if it’s a red or green candle, but any candle will do.  You can light it for however long you want, but if you need a minimum time, try 9 minutes a day.

Two: Up the wattage.  Light bulbs represent fire energy, which again, will spark new life into your finances.  Change out the light bulbs in your wealth corner to higher wattage bulbs, or add a lamp to this area.  Turn on the lights for a few minutes every day, but for maximum energy, turn it on for three hours.  You are shining a light on your finances and telling the energy where to go.

Three: Add something purple.  The color associated with the feng shui wealth area is purple.  Purple is the color of wealth and opulence, and adding something purple to your money corner will activate the chi. Anything purple works — decorations, pillows, art, curtains, blankets — anything! But you can even add purple construction paper or fabric to drawers, under the bed, or taped under tables in this area.  It doesn’t have to be visible in order to work!

Four: Add a wealth anchor.  Add something to your money area that represents wealth to you, so that every time you see it, you will feel abundant or be reminded of your intention.  This can be a picture of something you want to buy, a picture of something that represents money and what it means to you, a crystal, coins, or even a plant, fresh flowers, or a bowl of fruit.

Choose something that makes you feel abundant and happy when you look at it!  If you choose to add a plant, flowers, or fruit, make sure that you replace it as they wilt and that the plant is alive and healthy.

Once you’ve activated your wealth corner, you’ve done a lot of great feng shui work to attract abundance!

It can be both! Work on the inside of your home first, but once you’ve done that you can also feng shui the outside if you want. The money corner outside of your home would be the far back corner of your property.

Hi Rachel, I live in US. So do I need to use the compass method or the vagus you mentioned in this article? My house faces South. Please advise.
    Thank you.

Hey Malie! I would use the western bagua and not the compass method. If the compass method makes more sense to you though, use that!

Does a garage count . If I look at the diagram that corner is the garage? Or do I just ĺook at the inside of house and what about the basement?

Hi Joanne! Yes the garage does count! If that is your actual money corner you can apply the tips to your garage. If you don’t want to use the garage, you can also choose another room in your home and apply the bagua to that room and use the back left corner as a money corner. xoxo

Hey Rachael! You can use the same money tips in the bathroom if you have room for it! Just also make sure that you keep the toilet lid down as much as possible. You can also choose to create a money area in a different part of your home if you want (like your entry or career area.)

Hi, I already have my home temple in that area. Should I keep it or do the changes as described by you.

Hey Jeana! It sounds like this is your bedroom, right? If so, I would add some uplights (like floor lamps that shine light upward) for while you’re in there during the day. If you’re only really using it for sleeping, I wouldn’t worry too much about the dim light because that’s great for your body’s relaxation. You might also try to block off the laundry part somehow – with a screen or curtain if possible to protect you from that active energy.

Hi! You don’t have to use your son’s room as your wealth corner – instead use the areas directly outside of his room to do double-duty. You can also use the bagua for individual rooms, so you can turn an area in any room into a wealth corner. 🙂

One of the best things you can do when you’re trying to sell anything in your life is to remove your energy from it! Since this is an office building, I would remove anything that’s personal in that space so that it can be a clean slate for you and for someone else! You can also smudge it really well to remove your energies and make it energetically ready for someone else. Also affirm all of the positive things that blessed you in the space and really visualize how amazing it will be for someone else to have their office there! Positive energy all around will attract someone positive and make the transaction go smoothly. You can also enhance your HOME’S travel and helpful people area and make a helpful people box! https://peacelovefengshui.com/feng-shui-travel-helpful-people-area/

The kitchen is such an AMAZING area for abundance – don’t worry too much about the sink! The rest of the kitchen more than makes up for the sink drain. Here’s a post about how to feng shui your kitchen for abundance (which will be even better since it’s in your money corner!!) https://peacelovefengshui.com/feng-shui-kitchen-tips/

Hey Jenny! Just keep your wardrobe as neat and tidy as possible! It will work just as well as if it were its own room. 🙂
