While your whole home works as a vision board for your life, there are 6 different areas you can target to bring more success, money, and luck to your career.  When you look at the feng shui bagua map of your home, it looks like this:

The six areas of your home that you can use to boost your career are:

  • your entrance
  • career area
  • travel/helpful people
  • knowledge/spirituality
  • fame/reputation
  • money/wealth

(Click here to learn more about the bagua and how you can use it to map the different areas of your home.)

Now, let’s talk about the feng shui tips you can use in each area of your home to skyrocket your career!

The first area of your home that helps you attract career luck is: the entrance!

Your entrance:  In feng shui, the entrance of your home is how new opportunities and lucky energy finds you! The entrance is how the good luck enters your home, and the point of feng shui is to help that energy move throughout your home (and your life!)

When you are looking to boost your career or business, the front door is one of the most important areas.

Here are 3 tips for your entrance that will help your career:

One: One thing you can do to stir up the good luck and welcome it to your home is to buy a new welcome mat.  If possible, pick one that’s dark blue or black, because those are career-enhancing colors.

Choose one that you love, that says something positive, like “welcome to my home!” and projects the kind of image you’d like to portray in your work.  Like this one, for example:

(Click here to see this one on Amazon!)

(Don’t choose a snarky or sarcastic one that says “go away” or “come back with a warrant” — those are funny, but you want to welcome good energy and opportunity!)

Two: You can also hang a metal wind chime beside your front door.  If possible, choose one with 6 or 9 metal rods, and hang it on the right side of your door, between the door and the street.  (The right side, when standing on your porch and looking at your front door.)

This one has 6 rods, and is also black, which will attract more career luck!

Three: USE YOUR FRONT DOOR!  These days many of us enter our homes through the garage or other side doors, which means the energy doesn’t move frequently through the front door.  While you are focusing on your career opportunities, make sure you open your door and walk through it every day to move the energy.

If you can’t use your front door at all, then other things you can do to enhance your front entrance become even MORE important. (For an even bigger breakdown of tips you can use for your front door, click here.)

The second area of your home that attracts luck in your career is: the career area.

The career area is the area that most directly affects your work or business.  The career area is often called the secondary wealth area because it affects everything you do to bring money into your life.

A lot of times, your career area will also include your entrance, which means your front door and entryway are working together to bring in and keep positive energy circulating in your job.

Here are 3 tips you can use to help your career area:

One: Add water. If you have an aquarium in your home, placing it in your career area will bring lucky energy!  The flowing water and the fish movement stirs up the chi (life force energy) and keeps it flowing as it enters your home.

If you don’t want to add an aquarium, you can also use a picture of water (just make sure it’s flowing towards you/into your home when you hang it) and doesn’t depict large intimidating waves or rough waters.

You can also add a fountain in this area, or if you have one in your front yard, facing the home, that works too! Here’s a small tabletop fountain that would be perfect in an entryway:

Two: Add blue or black.  Again, blue and black are career-enhancing colors (they also represent the water element!), so they are excellent colors for accent pieces in this area.

Think: vases, pillows, picture frames, decorative items, flowers, curtains — anywhere you can add a pop of color that goes well with your current color scheme.

If you can’t add color or don’t want to, you can also add colored paper or fabric in drawers or under furniture – it doesn’t have to be visible in order to work!

Three: What are you trying to achieve?  When you want to bring your career to the next level, it’s important in feng shui to make sure you know exactly what you’re trying to gain by adding the feng shui enhancements.

For your career, write down on a piece of paper exactly what you want to happen next with your career.  Is it a job title? A certain amount of money? A new job? A promotion?

Whatever it is, write it down and place it somewhere in your career area.  This tells the Universe exactly what you want – but don’t be afraid to dream big either! The Universe might just surprise you. 🙂

The next area of your home that is significant for boosting career success is: travel/helpful people.

The helpful people area of your home is important if you want to attract new customers, or if you need someone’s help to get a job or promotion at work.  It’s also important if you travel a lot for work (or want to!)

3 things you can do to enhance your travel/helpful people area are:

One: Write down the names or job titles of the person/people who will be making the career decisions that affect your job.

Is there a hiring manager, does your boss need to approve your new job title or promotion, or is there a gatekeeper who would be especially helpful to getting your foot in the door?  Is there a specific number of customers or sales that you’re targeting in your business or position?

Write down the specific people who you need help from, and place them somewhere in your travel/helpful people area.  It’s even better if you have a metal box (or a shoe box lined with aluminum foil will also work) that you can place them in – that’s called “a helpful people box,” and works almost like magic when you need help from someone specific!

If you don’t know the name of your future boss or hiring manager, you can just write “hiring manager” or whatever else calls to mind the person whose help you’ll need.

If you want to travel for work, find pictures of places you’d like to go (or will be going) in your job and place them in this area.

Two: Add something metal to this area.  Metal is the feng shui element associated with the travel/helpful people area – so add something metal to this area with the sole purpose of helping your career.

Again, the helpful people box counts.  Or you can add something else that’s metal, like a lamp with a metal base (turn it on a few hours a day for an extra boost!), picture frames, or decorative items.

These little metal boxes are what I use for my helpful people box:

(Click here for the metal box on Amazon.)

Three: Add something white, gray, or silver to this area.  These colors represent the metal element, which will activate the helpful people area.

You can add the colors in many different ways, just don’t go overboard (because feng shui is about balance and flow!)

Again, choose accents like pillows, blankets, rugs, decorative items, picture frames, or even just add colored paper to drawers or under furniture if you don’t want the colors visible in the room.

The next area of your home that will help you attract success to your career is: knowledge/spirituality

The knowledge/spirituality area of your home relates to wisdom, learning, inner guidance, and personal growth.  It is also a great area to practice mediation, place a spiritual altar, and keep pictures of people who have mentored you along your career or spiritual journey.

Because of this, it’s definitely an area to pay attention to if you need to learn something new for your career, enter a work training program, increase your motivation, or if you want to move to the next level!  All perfect areas to enhance your career journey.

Here are 3 tips to increase the Chi in your knowledge/spirituality area:

One:  Add a photo or artwork of a tall mountain or mountain range.  This represents climbing the career ladder and reaching the peak.

It also represents the earth element, which is the element that boosts the knowledge area.  The picture doesn’t have to be visible, you can place it in a drawer if you’d like.

Two: Place a lamp in this area and turn it on for a few hours a day.  Light increases the fire energy, which activates your intelligence and learning capabilities.

It can also help you receive extra insights while you’re meditating or going throughout your day.

Three: Keep books in this area. This area is great for a library or bookshelf.

If you need to learn new things for your job, are taking a course, or working on personal development that will help you in your work, this is the area of your home where you want to keep those items.  Put your books here – or even better, study here!

You can also keep pictures of people you admire in your field – people you’d love to learn from or who you’re inspired to be like.

The fifth feng shui area of your home that relates to career luck is: fame/reputation

Even if your job isn’t in a field that requires hollywood-style fame and recognition, EVERY career benefits from a good reputation and recognition for your hard work!

Three tips to attract luck to your fame/recognition area are:

One: RED! Red is the color that rules this area.  Add red accents, or colored paper or fabric to drawers or under furniture.

Red draws attention and activates energy – which is important if you need to be recognized in your job or business.

If you need more customers and more “eyes on you” so that you’ll be recognized – add some red to this area!

Two: Place praise, accolades, diplomas, certifications, trophies, and awards in this area.  Anything you’ve earned that you’re proud of and want to be known for should go here.

If you are switching careers or switching businesses, then make sure this area DOESN’T contain the items you no longer want to be known for!

And if you are pursuing a certain achievement, write it out on a piece of paper and keep it in this area.  Write it out as if it’s already happened, and then watch it come to life!

Three:  Add fire.  The fire element rules this area – which is why red is so dominant here.

Lighting candles in this area or adding extra lighting can shine a spotlight on your career and reputation.

For an even bigger boost, write out what you want to accomplish next in your career, place the piece of paper under a candle, and light it for a few minutes every day for the next 9 days.

This will activate the Universe’s energy around your accomplishment and give your reputation a little more spark.

The final feng shui area of your home that relates to career luck is: your money corner!

If your career move will involve more money and wealth (which let’s face it, most of them do!) then don’t forget the wealth and money area of the bagua.

This area is a lot of fun, because enhancing it can stimulate your income not only through your job, but also through other unforeseen ways!

Three feng shui tips to help your business/career receive more income are:

One: Add a plant.  You can add one that is considered a traditional money plant, like a money tree, lucky bamboo, or jade plant.  OR you can just add a plant that you love!  Plants symbolize growth, stability, and increase – all good things when you are trying to grow the income in your job or business!

(Click here to see this money tree on Amazon!)

Two: Add a crystal.  Money crystals, like pyrite or citrine are great for the money area.

Either get one that you plan to use specifically for your career or business, or if you use one that you already own, make sure you cleanse and program it with your intentions for your increased income.

Crystals love a job and intention – so when you add it to this area, hold it for a few minutes and visualize what you’d like to happen with your income.  Then place it in your money area and let it do it’s job!

Every time you look at it, give thanks for your increased income and job opportunities.

Three: Add some green or purple.  Green is the color of growth and purple is the color of wealth.

Both colors work well in the money area of your home.  Choose whichever one you love most, or add a little bit of both if they go with your color scheme!

Bonus feng shui tips for career luck that will help you manifest exactly what you want:

One: Keep your home decluttered!  Clutter blocks energy, and when you want more energy in your life and career, you want to make sure that clutter isn’t blocking the new energy.

If you really want to give your career an extra boost of luck, then declutter in your career area with the sole intention of making space for your new clients, job, or promotion!

The Universe doesn’t like a vacuum, so decluttering with intention gives the universe the room to fulfill your desires.

Two: Focus.  When you want more luck in your career, set ONE goal.  Do all of your feng shui cures with the intention of helping that goal come to fruition, and then watch what happens.

Three: Be open to surprises! Feng shui is all about intention and using your home as a vision board, but sometimes our visions actually limit us!  Set your intention, but don’t forget to let the universe surprise you with something even better than you can imagine. 🙂
