how to boost the positive energy of your home with feng shui

The whole basis of Feng Shui is to bring positive energy into your home so that it feels amazing to live there.  It might seem counter-intuitive when you have a lot of things going on in your life to focus on your home.  In fact it might be something that you’ve neglected for a long time because when you’re busy, who wants to think about cleaning, decorating, decluttering, and Feng Shui?

But your home is your foundation – it’s where you recharge your life.  And it’s a lot like sleeping: if you aren’t sleeping well, nothing else works. The same is true for your home. If you aren’t taking care of your foundation, nothing else works!

how to boost the positive energy in your home with feng shui - 10 easy tips!

Here are 10 easy ways you can give your home a feng shui positive energy boost (that don’t take a ton of time or a ton of money!)

One: Take care of your front door.  Sweep your porch.  Wash your front door.  Clean the windows if you have them.  Clean the door handles and oil the hinges.  Make your front door sparkle!

It costs $0 to clean your front door and a lot of people just don’t think about it.  But the front door is how you welcome energy into your home, so it’s very important in Feng Shui – especially if you are wanting to raise the vibration and energy in your entire home. Two: Vacuum.  Vacuuming literally removes the dirt under your feet!  And in Feng Shui, your floor is a grounding space.  You want to get rid of the old, stagnant energy and make room for new energy to enter.  (Click Here to learn how to use feng shui while you sweep and vacuum!)

For an added bonus: add some essential oils to your vacuum filter to clean the air and make it smell amazing.  This is especially helpful if you have pets and your vacuum smells like a wet dog. 😉

Three: Shine your stovetop.  In Feng Shui, your stovetop represents abundance and prosperity.  Keeping your stovetop clean and in good working order is very important.  It’s also important to use all of your stovetop burners (because let’s face it, we all have a favorite one and neglect the others.)  Use them all, or at least turn them on a few times a week to get the prosperity and good energy flowing!

Four: Close your toilet lids.  Toilets (and drains) represent energy leaving your home, and when you want to increase the positive energy, you definitely don’t want it leaving.  Keep your toilet lids closed when you’re not using them.  Also, fix any leaky faucets so you aren’t dripping money and energy down the drain.

Five: Declutter.  Yeah, it’s the one thing that none of us really wants to do.  But it doesn’t have to take a lot of time.  In fact, you can just spend 5 minutes decluttering and notice how the energy in your home shifts!  It also helps stir up the Chi to move things around.

When you have negative energy attached to items that you no longer want or use, the energy of your home will greatly improve by getting that negative energy out of your house.

Six: Smudge.  Smudging clears the air in your home and changes the ionic energy.  It clears out negative energy and makes room for new, positive energy.  If you can’t smudge with a sage wand or palo santo, you can create your own essential oil sprays that you can use to achieve the same thing.  When you smudge, don’t forget to open your closet doors and also smudge in the corners of each room! (Click here to learn exactly how to smudge your house to remove negative energy!)

Seven: Open the curtains and the windows!  This stirs up the air and creates movement and is especially helpful in the winter when most of us have our homes closed up.  Get the stagnant energy (and musty smells) out of your home and let the sunshine in!

In feng shui, sunshine represents fire energy and also purifies and energizes the air, stirring up the chi and burning away the old stagnant vibes.  Even if you only open them for 5 minutes, you will definitely feel the positive effects.

Eight: Wash your curtains.  Curtains are one of the things most of us don’t think about and they can hold onto a lot of old energy.  The same is true of the ceilings and corners of your home.  Taking the curtains down and washing out the old dirt, dust, and stuck energy can lift the whole vibration of your space.

Nine: Clean out from under your bed.  Again, sleep is the foundation of a healthy life, and your bed is the symbol of that foundation.  Energy, dust, and dirt can collect under your bed.  This is especially true if you store things under the bed! Moving those items around and cleaning under your bed often can help you sleep better and feel better.

Ten: Play upbeat music.  Music is one of the best ways to move energy and raise the vibration of your home. Play music in each room as you smudge and play it with the intention of moving the energy.

In Feng Shui, everything affects the energy of your space and how you feel about it, and intention is EVERYTHING.  Play positive music and picture the good, happy energy moving all through your house.

As you can see, you can use these feng shui positive energy boosts any time you want to refresh your home.  You can even incorporate some of them into your home maintenance cleaning and boost the energy of your home on a regular basis!

What different herb can you use to smudge your home. I have smelled some before and did not like the odor?

I don't really like the smell of sage either, so I understand. :) You can use cedar, palo santo, or lavender too! Sage is just the traditional smudging herb and most used.
